And now, we’re looking for a

Tax & Consulting Principal

to help lead our expansion into the Austin and Houston markets—building client relationships, driving technical excellence, and playing a key role in advancing the firm’s overall growth strategy.

Purpose of the Role This leadership position is responsible for establishing and expanding ATKG’s presence in Austin, developing and managing client relationships, delivering technical excellence in tax, and mentoring a high‑performing team. The Principal will also contribute to the strategic advancement, growth, and risk management of the firm.

The ideal candidate will have an established presence in the local market and be positioned for consideration for partnership within 1–2 years based on performance and contributions.

What You’ll Do

Establish and grow ATKG’s presence in the Austin market, including building a client base and developing local market strategies.

Lead business development efforts to identify and pursue new clients, while also cross‑selling firm services.

Act as the primary client point of contact and identify opportunities for value‑added services.

Perform initial and/or final review of director, manager, senior, staff, and intern work products.

Review and confirm assignment objectives, scope, and work plans with clients.

Anticipate, identify, and resolve complex tax‑technical issues.

Identify and research technical issues to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.

Communicate staffing and workload issues with Resource Planning, ensuring appropriate allocation of resources.

Coach and mentor staff to enhance their skills and further their career development.

Contribute to the development of firmwide strategy, objectives, and budgets.

Prepare and/or review monthly client bills.

Manage expectations, internal and external, concerning changes in project deliverables and deadlines.

Handle confidential client matters with discretion.

What We’re Looking For

CPA certification required.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum 10 years of tax experience in a public accounting setting.

At least 5 years managing client relationships.

At least 5 years of supervisory experience.

Proven ability to establish strong relationships and drive new business in markets such as Austin and Houston.

Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Ownership mentality and commitment to excellence for the firm, its clients, and its people.
