Project Engineer
assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with the planning and daily execution of the construction project. They are responsible for helping ensure the project runs effectively and smoothly by managing the process of submittal approvals, coordinating the timely delivery of materials, maintaining logs, budgets, and project safety initiatives. They must be flexible and adaptable team-players, as well as have strong communication, task management and client service skills.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the development of budgets and forecasting efforts
Support project estimating and preconstruction planning
Participate in job walks and document site findings
Process and track change orders throughout the project lifecycle
Evaluate, prepare, and distribute appropriate RFI’s. Gather, prepare, review, and distribute submittals. Maintain accurate logs/records of the activities associated with these processes.
Monitor weekly production and provide updates to the Project Manager
Set up new projects, enter PCOs, manage RFIs and drawings, and facilitate project closeout
Participate in OAC meetings and prepare timely and accurate meeting minutes.
Request and track subcontractor billing submissions
Review, process, and track equipment, material, and subcontractor submittals
Perform material and equipment take-offs for procurement after submittal/shop drawing approvals
Generate, compile, and track change orders
Assist with the preparation of design engineer drawings
Produce detailed drawings to support fieldwork and RFIs
Support the design team with load calculations and code compliance
Assist with the resolution of challenges in the field.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with the project team, the client, owner’s representative, design team, subcontractors, and others.
Manage the punch-list and close-out process; including warranty, O&M, and as-built documentation.
Take responsibility for any intern training or mentoring assignments.
Always promote the highest level of professionalism and ethics.
Ensure Axis safety policies and procedures are in place and practiced.
Qualifications
Preferred 2+ years of project engineer experience in HVAC and plumbing
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior experience in the construction industry is desired; experience with HVAC and plumbing preferred.
Fundamental knowledge of basic construction materials and methods.
Basic understanding of the technical and business aspects of construction project management.
Ability to learn and master required technology and software applications, including the MS Office Suite, MS Project, and BlueBeam
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
OSHA 10 Certification.
The salary range for this position is
$90k - $105k
based on experience and qualifications. In addition to a base salary, Axis Mechanical Inc. offers a performance-based bonus, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for professional growth.
