Process Improvement Engineer – Westchester Medical Center Health Network
Join as a Process Improvement Engineer within the Operational Excellence Department, working as an internal management consultant to achieve substantial improvements in operations by managing projects throughout the lifecycle and collaborating with operational leaders.
Responsibilities
Serve as a change agent and transformation leader, providing leaders, teams, and departments with state‑of‑the‑art process improvement and industrial engineering methodologies.
Support performance improvement activities aligned with the strategic direction of the WMC Health Network based on current state analysis, future needs, and innovative approaches.
Scope improvement initiatives, obtain leadership support, and establish metrics and landmarks; create and update project plans, action items, and meeting minutes.
Oversee data collection, analysis, and assessment through observations and system reporting; prepare documents, including workflow and process flow diagrams.
Apply queuing theory and simulation modeling to service delivery decision‑making.
Collaborate with leaders to ensure high‑quality patient services, cost‑effective resource allocation, and efficient flow of patients, information, and materials.
Conduct process and data analysis to discover improvement opportunities; develop information flow solutions to streamline handoffs.
Collect and translate operational business requirements into future state process designs.
Facilitate teams that identify, design, and implement solutions using sound process engineering principles for high‑quality and efficient processes.
Query and analyze data, develop visualizations, and distribute performance analytics tools to promote data‑driven decision‑making.
Coach and educate staff at all levels on improvement science techniques.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum of 1 year of experience in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Healthcare Management, or related healthcare field with significant improvement science and transformation training.
Experience with Python or other programming language preferred.
Master’s degree required.
Lean/Six Sigma certification or equivalent experience preferred.
Agile skills drawn from management, business administration, organization development, IT, and computer science.
Strong process mapping and visualization using Microsoft Visio.
Excellent written and verbal communication; strong drive for professionalism in delivery and presentation.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Advanced proficiency in statistics and statistical software with ability to visualize data for improvement/performance monitoring.
Experience with Tableau, Power BI, and SQL/databases preferred.
