Key Responsibilities Client & Engagement Management Serve as lead accountant on multiple non-profit client engagements. Oversee day-to-day accounting operations: A/P, A/R, GL, reconciliations, and allocations. Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP and non-profit standards . Manage and monitor grant accounting and fund restrictions. Ensure compliance with reporting requirements for government and foundation grants. Technical & Regulatory Apply deep knowledge of non-profit GAAP, fund accounting, and internal controls. Maintain up-to-date understanding of IRS and state compliance for 501(c)(3) organizations. Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for audits and 990 filings. Facilitate annual financial audits by coordinating with external auditors and ensuring timely preparation of audit-ready materials. Support the preparation and filing of IRS Form 990 returns, working closely with clients and tax preparers. Identify and implement accounting process improvements and internal controls. development. Client Communication & Strategic Insight Communicate proactively and professionally with client leadership, auditors, and internal teams. Deliver insights and financial narratives beyond the numbers — helping clients make informed decisions. Identify new service opportunities and bring strategic value to client relationships. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA track preferred, CMA also advantageous). 3–5+ years of relevant accounting experience, with a focus on non-profit clients. Demonstrated experience in fund accounting, grant tracking, and financial reporting for restricted funds. Experience supervising and mentoring accounting staff. Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Xero, Ramp, Bill.com, and Excel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
