Senior Systems Engineer
Our client is a leading provider of blockchain intelligence solutions that deliver technology, training, and services to law enforcement, defense, intelligence, and regulatory agencies across the U.S. Government.
As a Systems Engineer supporting the US Intelligence Community, you’ll work closely with the technical stakeholders and customers who use our client's software products daily as part of their mission protecting national security. You’ll manage, maintain, and optimize a system supporting our applications inside of multiple classified environments. You’ll establish and maintain strong working relationships across the customer, the CGS Sales and Solution Architecture teams, and our engineering and product teams. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of our customers’ mission, an ownership mindset, strong technical aptitude, and intellectual curiosity to learn about the blockchain and cryptocurrency ecosystem.
Note: This role requires you to be physically on-site with the customer in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area (WMA) up to five days a week.
Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software applications, and server hardware on-site for intelligence community customers
Lead IT projects in support of our client's on-premise software applications, including system upgrades, migrations, and new technology implementations
Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and ensure timely resolution of IT requests
Develop and manage backup strategies, perform regular backups, and ensure data integrity and disaster recovery capabilities
Monitor system performance and identify issues while optimizing systems for efficiency and reliability
Ensure systems and networks comply with organizational policies and industry standards
Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and network diagrams
Provision and configure IaaS technology components from C2S
Work and collaborate with the application development team to ensure coordinated deployment of code updates to the production system
Communicate with customer system owners and end users to schedule system maintenance
Configure and test network communications with 3rd party systems owners to enable data transfer and collection
Actively learn the environment in which the software solution will operate in order to articulate risks and constraints
Qualifications
TS/SCI Clearance with Full-Scope Polygraph
3-4 years of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) fundamentals for EC2, VPC, ELB, RDS, S3, and EBS
Working knowledge of web services configuration and administration using Apache, WSGI, and PostgreSQL
AWS Certification - SysOps or DevOps
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, VLANs, and network monitoring tools
Experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, anti-virus, and endpoint protection
Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper‑V, or KVM
Experience performing system admin duties in the C2S/AWS environment
Solid understanding of remediating security vulnerabilities and experience hardening Linux and Windows systems in accordance with RMF and STIGs
Experience with Linux and Windows-based procedures and scripting such as PL/SQL, UNIX – common shell scripting (k, c, bash, etc.)
Python Scripting experience
Knowledge of Linux, Windows, and WebLogic servers
Knowledge of enterprise level VMware products
Knowledge of API Services (DPaaS), OpenShift4, CI/CD, Oracle Fusion Middleware, WebLogic 12C
