Job Description Join KPFF’s Salt Lake City office as a Structural Project Engineer or Project Manager in Training. In this role you’ll take on increasing responsibility, expand your technical and leadership skills, and play a key role in shaping innovative structural solutions.

Who You’ll Work With You’ll work with a collaborative and community‑focused team that provides structural engineering services throughout Utah and the surrounding area, contributing to projects that shape the local skyline and support regional growth. Projects include work for the University of Utah, the City of Salt Lake, the State of Utah, Utah Tech University, Unified Fire, and others, delivered in partnership with leading architects, developers, and contractors.

What You’ll Do

Lead & Contribute: Take ownership of design tasks, analysis, and documentation while working on or managing engineering projects appropriate to your experience level.

Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with architects, owners, and contractors to ensure successful outcomes.

Deliver Quality Solutions: Apply engineering knowledge and creative problem‑solving to deliver practical, innovative designs.

Mentorship & Growth: Learn from senior engineers, contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing, and train entry‑level engineers to develop their careers.

Be Part of Utah's Growth: Contribute to projects that shape the community, from commercial developments to public facilities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).

At least three years of relevant structural engineering experience, demonstrating strong technical and organizational abilities.

PE license preferred, or a clear commitment to pursuing licensure with support from KPFF’s professional development programs.

Proficiency in Revit and familiarity with ETABS, RAM, RISA 3D, SAP2000, SAFE, or other structural analysis and design software.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

A proactive, curious, and adaptable mindset, with a passion for learning and continuous improvement.

Additional Information Physical Demands And Work Environment

Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.

Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.

Occasionally visiting project locations and performing field inspections which may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.

Compensation The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and skills. The expected range for a qualified candidate with 3‑6 years of experience is $80,000–$95,000. Additionally, performance‑based bonuses may be awarded.
