Orthopaedic Hand and Soft Tissue Surgeon

Duties & Responsibilities The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at VCU Health System is recruiting a board certified or eligible hand fellowship trained orthopaedic or plastic surgeon with an interest in hand and extremity (upper and lower) orthoplastic reconstruction and microvascular free tissue transfer. The candidate will provide diagnostic and interventional management for a full spectrum of hand and extremity reconstructive indications. The emphasis of the practice will be on reconstruction of traumatic and oncologic musculoskeletal injuries and both traumatic and atraumatic conditions of the hand. Completion of an ACGME accredited Hand Fellowship is desired but not required if applicant has adequate experience in complex hand trauma.
The selected candidate will be expected to collaborate in investigative work that leads to publications in peer‑reviewed journals and participate in both didactic and bedside teaching and mentoring activities for our medical students, residents, trauma and hand fellows. The position will be based at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, a level 1, tertiary trauma center.
Qualifications
A valid Virginia medical license
MD or DO degree (or equivalent) from an accredited program
Completed an ACGME accredited Orthopaedic or Plastic Surgery Residency program
Board certification/eligibility in Orthopaedic Surgery or Plastic Surgery
Applicants' materials must list current and/or pending qualifications upon submission.
Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
