Sr. Operations Manager
Amazon seeks a senior operations manager responsible for all budgetary, people development, and operations objectives. The manager leads and oversees the operations or functional area at the fulfillment center, managing and mentoring a team of operations and area managers to ensure performance objectives are met, build positive employee relations, and strengthen the leadership bench strength within the fulfillment center.
Responsibilities
Drive creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives and other Lean initiatives to enable the functional area and ultimately the fulfillment center to meet and exceed the business plan.
Be responsible for the overall safety, quality, and performance and customer experience of either inbound or outbound operations.
Set and clarify requirements and expectations for Operations and Area Managers, measure performance, provide feedback, and hold Ops Managers accountable for their and their departments’ performance.
Leverage Operations and Area Managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas, and rolling them into improvement plans for the functional area.
Takes proactive steps to ensure best practices are shared across all departments, shifts, and the network.
Works closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT and other senior operations managers) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives in this area, and provide needed support for other staff initiatives.

Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each.
Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
Walking in the fulfillment center and around the area with great frequency; facilities may be over a quarter mile in length.
Continual standing and/or walking an average of 5 miles daily.
Ability to work in construction/distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, and/or not air‑conditioned.
Able to access all areas of the building (ascending and descending ladders, stairs, gangways safely and without limitation).
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of equivalent experience.
7+ years direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production or distribution environment.
Prior experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques.
Prior experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and termination.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Engineering, Operations or related field and MBA preferred.
Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons.
Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.
Interest in long‑term career development through assignments in multiple fulfillment centers across the nation.

Compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,500 per year in our lowest geographic market up to $200,900 per year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon offers a total compensation package that may include equity, sign‑on payments, and other benefits.
