Project Director – Architecture Terminal Planning Leader Flexible location: candidates can work from any HNTB office.

About the Position HNTB’s award‑winning Architectural Practice is growing and we are looking for a dynamic, forward‑thinking aviation architecture project director–terminal planner to lead major terminal planning efforts at some of the country’s largest and most iconic airports. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical and communication skills, a passion for aviation planning, and a curiosity‑driven mindset for tackling design challenges. Key Responsibilities

Contribute to win strategies and guide project execution to ensure efficient, high‑quality results.

Serve as the lead client liaison, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with exceptional client satisfaction.

Manage diverse project tasks—including research, design studies, data and feasibility analysis, massing and program studies, design documentation, and coordination across disciplines.

Lead and mentor terminal planning teams through concept development to project completion.

Take on task‑lead responsibilities and, on occasion, serve as project manager on select medium‑to‑large‑scale efforts.

Prepare strategic plans for project success and estimate fees, determine scope of work, and prepare proposals and contracts for complex projects.

Coordinate work efforts, review work performed, and provide quality management oversight.

Act as a champion for the team and provide staffing leadership—hiring, firing, promotion, discipline, performance review, work allocation, training, and mentoring.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related field and 15 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

20 years of experience.

Master’s degree.

Registration in Architecture (RA).

Pay Range (Approximate)

New York: $176,192 – $351,812

Los Angeles Metro Area & Orange County: $202,621 – $323,667

San Francisco Bay Area: $220,240 – $351,812

Greater Seattle, WA Metro Area: $202,621 – $323,667

Colorado: $193,811 – $309,595

Washington, DC: $202,621 – $323,667

Illinois: $193,811 – $309,595
