About the DOT Bike Share & Shared Mobility Unit The unit is responsible for planning, oversight, and management of the Citi Bike program, dockless e-scooter and e-bike-share services, and other emerging micro-mobility services. Citi Bike currently operates in four boroughs with over 30,000 bicycles and 2,000 stations, playing an integral role in NYC's transportation network. The program is expanding, with more than half of NYC's population expected to be within a 5-minute walk of a Citi Bike station by 2024. E-scooter services have been operating in the East Bronx and expanded into Eastern Queens in June 2024, with up to 12,000 vehicles later this year.

Job Responsibilities

Perform professional work related to the expansion and planning of bike share and micro-mobility services, including site identification, planning, and database updates.

Conduct economic research and studies related to bike share and shared mobility services.

Coordinate with various stakeholders, including other DOT divisions, city agencies, private contractors, and community groups, to resolve issues.

Create presentations, maps, and materials for decision-makers and public audiences.

Utilize computer-based tools to analyze service patterns and trends.

Make presentations and explain DOT's policies and plans to private and public groups.

Conduct complex studies on management, operations, and staffing related to bike share services.

Supervise subordinate staff as required.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

A master's degree in relevant fields with one year of professional experience, or

A bachelor's degree with three years of related experience, or

An associate degree with five years of related experience, or

A high school diploma with seven years of related experience, or

An equivalent combination of education and experience, with specific conditions.

Preferred Skills High proficiency in ArcGIS and Adobe Creative Suite is strongly desired. Candidates with excellent attention to detail, experience or interest in transportation planning, bike share, cycling, and experience working with the public and community groups are highly preferred. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders are essential.
