Department of Pediatrics
at the University Of New Mexico School Of Medicine is seeking an
Open Rank/Open Track faculty
for a full-time position within the
Division of Hematology/Oncology . The Department of Pediatrics is a multi-specialty group of greater than 100 faculty at New Mexico’s only pediatric tertiary care facility. The Children’s Hospital of New Mexico is an integral part of the University of New Mexico Health Science Center, the State’s premier medical, educational and research institution. Final rank, salary, and tenure will be based on prior training and experience. The
Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
service offers complete clinical care services for infants, children, and adolescents with cancer and blood disorders. The service currently sees 80 new oncology patients per year at the Children’s Hospital and affiliated clinics. The Division is an active participant in COG with the support of a strong research team. The division houses a nationally funded hemophilia program, a survivorship program, and a vascular anomalies program. Our Oncology service collaborates with the UNM Cancer Center, the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the state and one of only 40 in the nation. The incumbent should have excellent interpersonal and clinical care skills and have a strong interest in participating in the education of medical students and pediatric residents. Opportunities for basic or clinical research are available. UNM comes under the scope of various loan repayment and loan forgiveness application opportunities for eligible providers. The Children’s Hospital of New Mexico is located on the beautiful campus of the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM. Albuquerque, with a population of 800,000, is located in the high desert of New Mexico. It offers the cultural advantages of a metropolitan area with the feeling of small city living. New Mexico enjoys a mild 4-season climate with affordable housing and a vibrant cultural scene. Santa Fe, a world-renowned artistic community, is less than an hour away. New Mexico is a place of unmatched natural beauty and offers easy access to outdoor activities including hunting and fishing, skiing, rafting, hiking, ballooning, and other activities. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Board Certified in Pediatrics BC/BE in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Able to obtain medical licensure in the State of NM Preferred Qualifications: Experience in clinical hematology/oncology. Experience teaching medical students and residents. Interest or experience in AYA population and Survivorship care. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
