Compensation: $275,000 - $350,000/yr At CoreCivic, we do more than manage inmates, we care for people. CoreCivic is currently seeking a passionate Psychiatrist dedicated to providing high-quality care in an institutional setting. The Psychiatrist oversees the operation and provides leadership for mental health services within the facility. This role involves administrative and clinical coordination to deliver comprehensive mental health care for inmates/residents. The successful candidate should be able to perform all of the following functions at a performance level consistent with job requirements: Report to the facility at the designated hour to provide direct patient care and related clinical duties. Participate in civil commitment proceedings. Assess and diagnose using DSM criteria as appropriate. Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications. Provide professional services including counseling, disease management, and ordering/reviewing lab work. Supervise and mentor mental health staff. Assess mental health service needs, maintain statistics, and prepare reports. Improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness of mental health services. Accept on-call responsibilities. Offer individual, group, and family counseling to inmates/residents and their families. Develop and implement treatment programs, assist inmates/residents in overcoming social and emotional issues. Prepare progress reports, discharge recommendations, and statistical reports. Serve as liaison for mental health services and promote mental health awareness. Supervise inmate/resident activities and promote positive community relations. Maintain confidentiality, audit files, and ensure completion of treatment programs. Coordinate services provided by contract personnel if applicable. Maintain records and reports accurately and timely. Attend staff and group meetings to ensure effective communication and program delivery. Make decisions using established policies and sound judgment. Respond to legal matters and attend court as needed. Interpret technical and legal documents accurately. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, demonstrating tact and professionalism. Maintain equipment and supplies. Handle hostile situations and endure stressful environments, including emergencies. Participate in training and emergency duties as assigned. Qualifications: Graduate from an accredited college with an advanced degree in psychology or related field, with appropriate licensing or certification. Minimum of five years clinical experience, including two in a comparable role. Valid driver’s license required. Must be at least 18 years old.
