POSITION SUMMARY The Family Medicine Residency Program Core Faculty serves as a clinical leader, ensuring high-quality teaching and patient care within an accredited Residency program. The Core Faculty is committed to training competent, compassionate, and community-oriented family physicians, demonstrating evaluation and assessment skills, leadership, and an understanding of the Family Medicine core competencies and Milestones as required by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Valid and unrestricted medical license from the State of Arizona
Valid and current DEA number
Board certification with the American Board of Family Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians
For physicians from other specialties, current ABMS certification in the respective specialty
Clinically active, involved in direct patient care
Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
First Aid certification
Current Arizona driver’s license with a clean driving record and proof of current vehicle insurance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in Family Medicine education
Experience providing care in rural or underserved areas
Equivalent education and experience may be considered if directly related to the role's requirements.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY Supervises and monitors performance of assigned employees, including overseeing work, scheduling, training, and participating in hiring, disciplinary actions, and evaluations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Proficient with computers
Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, and medical teams
Strong reading and writing skills in English
Courteous, responsive, and hospitable demeanor
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Leadership skills to motivate and build teams
Cultural competence and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise Family Medicine residents, ensuring patient safety and care quality
Teach and train residents and medical students in Family Medicine
Monitor resident work hours and intervene as needed to prevent fatigue
Create a positive learning environment for residents
Assess residents' competencies and provide real-time feedback
Mentor residents on career and educational goals
Model professionalism and maintain clinical skills through direct patient care
Participate in faculty development and academic activities
Lead and participate in didactics, quality improvement, and scholarly activities
Assist program leadership and staff in maintaining program excellence
Engage in professional growth activities and serve on committees
Maintain clinical competency and participate in professional organizations
Work with the Program Director to set professional development goals
