JOB SUMMARY: The Director is a Registered Nurse who assumes 24-hour administrative responsibility
and is
accountable for the strategic planning, direction, organization, and control of the inpatient Maternal Child Health Department. This position is responsible for the clinical delivery of care and meeting fiscal goals. The director supervises, assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the delivery of patient care. It involves developing and implementing departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and ensuring compliance with current regulations. The Director assumes 24-hour accountability for the department, supervises and evaluates all personnel assigned to the unit, and effectively utilizes nursing personnel and resources. The Director reports directly to the Assistant Administrator of Patient Care Services or the Director. Responsibilities include communicating with staff, physicians, and administration both verbally and in writing, responding to hospital codes, assessing and documenting patient care, and participating in performance improvement activities. The Director also formulates departmental budgets and ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards, including those from the County, State, Federal agencies, and the Joint Commission, to ensure quality patient outcomes. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING Must have a current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse BCLS certification upon hire and maintain current A minimum of two years supervisory/management experience is necessary Must obtain Sexual Harassment Certification within 6 months and maintain it biennially ACLS and NRP certifications upon hire and maintain current Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a perinatal nurse in an acute care setting Bachelor’s degree preferred
