As a full-stack enterprise Software Design Engineer on our development team, you will continue to grow your cloud and Java-EE enterprise application development skills by learning and providing team and user support for our existing cloud-based, full-stack, Java-EE enterprise data collection system. In this position, you will also help drive the continued growth and development of the existing system.
The primary component in our infrastructure is the Factory Information System (FIS), a cloud-based, custom data collection system, consisting of AWS-deployed Java-EE application servers, high-availability SQL databases, and web applications, both Java and Python-based. Our growth vision includes enhancing the existing system and developing new enterprise applications to support a significantly larger deployment base for data collection across our manufacturing operations worldwide.
The successful candidate must thrive in a small, tight-knit team environment, possess a strong sense of ownership, and be eager to learn new cloud-based software development and system administration technologies. They should also be capable of mentoring team members and users. Team members are expected to be largely self-directed, creating reliable, scalable, and maintainable enterprise solutions in a mission-critical environment within budget and schedule constraints. Responsibilities:
Learn and support the current cloud-based Java-EE application stack and data infrastructure.
Support our cloud-based PostgreSQL/PGPool databases and EJB interfaces.
Participate in researching, developing, and implementing improvements to our AWS cloud infrastructure.
Contribute to the development and implementation of future technologies, including data system integration, cloud architecture optimization, cost reduction, microservices, DevOps, and SCADA integration.
Promote software development and DevOps best practices within the team and user community.
Work directly with users to identify and implement service improvements and enhancements.
Coordinate with corporate IT and other organizational units as needed.
Additional Qualifications:
Proficiency in full-stack Java-EE development is essential.
Experience with Python web frameworks and cloud development is a plus.
System administration experience on UNIX systems and networking knowledge are advantageous.
Experience with SOAP/REST, Docker, Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD practices is beneficial.
