UUP Job Summary: The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Cytotechnologist, Pathology/Cytology. The successful candidate will: Perform clerical and cytopreparatory processing and screening analysis of all cytological specimens. Process patient samples for cytological procedures including examination, accessioning and result reporting. Screen patient samples and provide cytologic interpretation of Gyn Specimens. Perform clinical laboratory testing procedures. Communicate with physicians, nurses and other hospital personnel to ensure proper patient histories. Assist to ensure proper collection, processing and reporting. Maintain documentation as required by the regulatory agencies, including records of workload, patient follow-ups, quality control and assignments. Maintain quality control of equipment and reagents. Compliance with hospital policy regarding annual health assessment and mandatory in-service. Perform other job related duties based on business need. Required Qualifications: New York State Cytotechnologist License or documented eligibility required. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent college credits in Medical Technology, physical or Biological science preferred. Experience in a hospital laboratory setting, including Cytology and ASCP certification preferred. Salary Range:
