Position Description:
The University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Division of Hematology, Oncology and Blood & Marrow Transplantation seek a BC/BE Hematologist with clinical training in Sickle Cell Disease diagnosis, management, and research. The position may be at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, on either the tenure or clinical track, depending on qualifications. An appointment as Instructor (non-track) may also be considered.
About the Institution The Carver College of Medicine is part of a major research university ranking 19th in NIH funding. The Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center is a NCI-designated center with a strong research portfolio, including investigator-initiated and phase I trials. The hospital is a large university-owned teaching hospital adjacent to the Iowa City VA Medical Center.
Division Overview The Division of Hematology-Oncology and Blood & Marrow Transplantation covers benign and malignant hematology and solid tumor oncology. It leads over 200 active clinical trials and operates Iowa’s only FACT-accredited bone marrow transplant unit, providing services at University of Iowa Health Care, the Iowa City VA, and regional sites.

Education Requirements
MD degree or equivalent.
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Residency Program.
Required Qualifications
Clinical experience in Hematology, specifically Sickle Cell Disease.
Commitment to clinical teaching, research, and patient care in Hematology.
Certifications
License or eligibility for licensure in Iowa.
Board certified or eligible in Hematology.
Desirable Qualifications
Recognition in clinical trial research.
Experience with extramural grants and research collaborations.
