Base Pay Range $130,000.00/yr - $160,000.00/yr
Position Overview The M&D Design Manager STM will design and assist in the development of Speed to Market products and SMUs for DTC Ecommerce. The role requires a keen understanding of new and emerging product and business trends, as well as in-depth knowledge of mainline product assortments, to identify and propose SMU opportunities to leadership. The Design Manager vets, designs, and develops identified opportunities, ensuring deadlines and WIP status are maintained. Responsibilities include maintaining design boards, logs, and ensuring all needs meet timeline and production requirements.
Responsibilities
Research and design multi-seasonal, multi-product lines for key account customers and Ecommerce channel based on market needs and customer requests.
Design STM Brand Elevation collaborations with key partners and customers.
Facilitate SMU and Speed to Market needs by creating line drawings, art pages, etc. for tech packs that fulfill STM and SMU objectives.
Help create tech packs when workload demands it.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of seasonal mainline styles and product stories.
Apply Z Supply brand filter to ensure all key market design trends align to brand and business/revenue needs.
Collaborate with the team on conceptualising, designing and executing special programmes.
Attend best seller meetings across Ecommerce and Wholesale to gain in-depth knowledge of current and emerging selling and product trends.
Ensure all needs are met according to timeline.
Proof and comment on all factory lab‑dips, strike‑offs, prototypes, etc., for proper design and production approval.
Manage first fits through TOPs with Tech Designer.
Ensure timely completion of product in accordance with customer development calendar and track samples.
Communicate daily with factories along with STM Product Developer on development to ensure products meet targeted price and margin goals.
Maintain log of all SMU styles and ensure they meet IGM and MOQ requirements.
Track production approval stages for all Need It Now / Late Add styles.
Share design sheets of STM and SMU SKUs with management on a weekly and monthly basis for visibility.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
10+ years of design experience; Sr. Designer or Design Manager preferred.
Deep understanding of the brand to ensure the right brand design aesthetic is met.
Strategic thinker willing to push the envelope and bring fresh, innovative ideas to life.
Excellent team player with ability to build, foster and nurture supportive, collaborative relationships.
Highly organised and detail oriented; able to manage multiple design needs and meet key deadlines.
Creative thinker who can brainstorm innovative ideas/strategies to support brand initiatives.
Excellent communicator; able to clearly communicate designs to Tech Design and Product Development and production teams.
Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Google Docs.
Merchandising experience and skills are a plus.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
Continuously required to sit, use hand and finger dexterity, talk & hear.
Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
Noise level usually moderate.
May occasionally lift and/or move more than 20–25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Specialised equipment: computer, laptop, printer, copy machine.
