SOCY 275
– Epidemiology of Everyday Life. Students learn fundamental principles of epidemiological and statistical analysis and apply them to everyday health decisions. The course is part of the AU CORE quantitative literacy curriculum, so
quantitative/statistical analysis skills are required .
Applicants must hold an advanced degree (Master or Doctoral) in sociology or a related field. Rank will depend on the applicant’s highest degree earned.
Review of applications will be on a rolling basis.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teach one section of Epidemiology of Everyday Life as assigned.
Develop lesson plans and classroom material aligned with department standards.
Evaluate and assess student performance in a timely manner.
Hold regular office hours to support student learning.
Use Canvas to communicate and post course material.
Qualifications
Advanced degree (Master or Doctoral) in sociology or related fields.
Quantitative/statistical analysis skills required.
Salary ranges for adjunct faculty are:
1-2 Credit Course: $2,865 (non-terminal) / $3,414 (terminal)
3-4 Credit Course: $4,725 (non-terminal) / $5,400 (terminal)
5-6 Credit Course: $4,938 (non-terminal) / $5,548 (terminal)
Hiring offers for this position are contingent on successful completion of a background check. Employees in staff positions at American University must deliver their services from either the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia, or perform work on-site at the university.
