Sr. Data Architect
Location: Arlington, VA (Hybrid)
ECS is seeking a Sr. Data Architect to join our team. You will partner with customers to design, optimize, and scale modern data architectures leveraging Databricks, AWS, Elastic, and ServiceNow. You will play a key role in shaping enterprise data strategies that enable advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI-driven insights.
As part of ECS’s Professional Services and Managed Cybersecurity Services programs, you will lead the delivery of data architecture solutions that unify structured and unstructured data across platforms. Your expertise will guide the implementation of scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, ensure strong data governance and security, and optimize data workflows for performance and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities
Architect, design, and implement scalable, secure, and high‑performing data solutions leveraging Databricks, Elasticsearch, AWS, and ServiceNow integrations.
Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines and data workflows to support analytics, observability, and operational insights.
Define and enforce data governance, security, and compliance frameworks across cloud and enterprise platforms.
Integrate structured and unstructured data sources into a unified data lakehouse architecture to enable downstream analytics and reporting.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including data engineers, data scientists, and business analysts to ensure data availability, accuracy, and reliability.
Partner with infrastructure and DevOps teams to implement CI/CD, version control, and Infrastructure‑as‑Code for data environments.
Provide technical leadership in evaluating and adopting new technologies to enhance the data ecosystem.
Troubleshoot complex data architecture challenges and drive continuous improvement in data platform performance and scalability.
Required Skills
Extensive experience architecting and managing Databricks environments in production at scale.
Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data transformation, validation, and automation.
Expertise with AWS data services (S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda, IAM, CloudFormation).
Proven experience integrating Elasticsearch for advanced search, analytics, or observability use cases.
Familiarity with ServiceNow data models and API‑based integrations for ITSM, CMDB, or observability data exchange.
Deep understanding of data lakehouse architecture, data modeling, and performance optimization.
Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
Experience with Spark and distributed data processing frameworks.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control tools (Git).
Must be a U.S. Citizen and able/willing to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Desired Skills
Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline.
Experience with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and MLflow within Databricks.
Knowledge of streaming data technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Firehose.
Familiarity with Terraform or CloudFormation for Infrastructure as Code.
Background in data security and compliance (FedRAMP, HIPAA, SOC2, etc.).
Experience designing ServiceNow integrations for operational dashboards or observability pipelines.Strong understanding of MLOps and DevOps principles.
Prior consulting or customer‑facing experience in data architecture or modernization initiatives.
Experience in Agile environments and managing cross‑functional technical delivery.
