Position Description The Services Architect - CIAM is a technical authority on both cloud and on‑premises IT systems. You will design and deliver Okta’s industry‑leading cloud identity platform for customers, focusing on Auth0 product solutions in the Customer Identity use cases. You will build trusted partnerships with customers, translating business needs into actionable strategies and guiding them toward high business value.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Lead the gathering of business, functional, and technical requirements for an identity platform powered by Okta.
Work with customers to document common technical and functional requirements for specific solutions.
Create project plans and drive implementation of proposed solutions.
Translate requirements into designs, providing technical leadership and oversight as part of the professional services delivery team.
Participate in periodic customer health‑checks and project reviews.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
8+ years of overall IT/software development experience, solution design, and technical architecture.
3+ years of consulting experience and driving application architecture design.
Experience with IAM architectures, including B2C and B2B identity use cases (multi‑factor authentication, SSO, delegated administration, social identities).
Experience implementing cloud solutions such as AWS, Google Apps, Salesforce, etc.
Strong knowledge of security architecture and protocols (SAML, OIDC, OAuth, RBAC, LDAP, Active Directory).
Proficiency in one or more of Java, .Net, JavaScript, Angular, React.
Ability to manage customer expectations and communicate technical information to non‑technical audiences.
Availability to travel up to 50%.
Highly Desirable Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Okta expertise, certifications, or prior experience.
Knowledge of software development security and cryptography.
Experience with API gateways, CASB, reverse proxies (NGINX).
Proficiency with open‑source tools and development practices; familiarity with git and subversion.
Education & Certification
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Okta Certified Technical Architect or a combination of Okta Certified Consultant and Okta Certified Developer is a plus.
TOGAF and/or CISSP certifications are a plus.
Compensation OTE range for California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area): $184,000—$276,000 USD. For San Francisco Bay Area: $206,000—$310,000 USD. Includes equity, health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, paid leave and parental leave.
