Project Finance Investment Banking - Vice President (Japanese-speaking)
Join MUFG as a Vice President in the Project Finance Team covering North American Power markets. The role requires a strong background in project finance, especially in North American renewable and power asset classes, with fluency in Japanese and English.

Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the origination and execution of debt project financing transactions, working closely with Managing Directors and Directors.
Identify and review new business opportunities, leading the screening of new deals with senior management for approval.
Establish client relationships and attend in‑person client meetings.
Lead the development of business screening memoranda and transaction due diligence, including commercial, structural, legal, market, technical, environmental, and social risk assessments.
Lead the day‑to‑day execution process of mandated transactions, seeking guidance from Managing Directors/Directors.
Assess and articulate risks, advise clients on commercial and financial structure, and assist in obtaining credit ratings.
Lead the creation, review, and negotiation of term sheets and financing documentation.
Develop internal credit memos, financing transaction marketing materials, and manage compliance processes.
Deliver seamless transaction execution with minimal oversight and act as a control and audit function for work products.
Provide mentorship and training to Associates and Analysts and act as a role model for MUFG’s client‑centric culture.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
Fluency in Japanese (highly recommended) and English.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably in project finance with full involvement in marketing, execution, due diligence, documentation, credit analysis, and credit administration.
Strong analytical, written and verbal communication, logical assessment, and risk management skills.
Proactive, resourceful self‑starter, capable of learning new systems rapidly and working effectively in a team environment.
Advanced financial modeling and cash flow analysis experience; knowledge of Loans, Bonds, Interest Rate Swaps, and Foreign Exchange.
Authorization to work permanently in the United States.
Compensation The typical base pay range for this role is between $200,000 and $240,000, depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. The position is eligible for discretionary performance‑based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
