Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

Hybrid schedule: 3 days in office weekly.
Overview Sargent & Lundy Consulting (SLC) works on behalf of clients to support electric power projects. We evaluate and optimize technical, commercial, environmental, and financial aspects of the projects for a variety of clients.
Responsibilities Provide development support, conceptual design and owner’s engineer services to clients, including performing technical evaluations of electric power generation projects and facilities. Support project economic and cost analysis, risk assessments, and contract development. Conduct engineering design reviews, technical due diligence, project development support, and conceptual design. Potential travel within the U.S. and internationally.
Qualifications We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.
BS in mechanical or electrical engineering from an ABET-approved program with strong academic background.
10+ years relevant power plant and heavy industrial control systems experience, specifically: Simple cycle gas turbines, Combined cycle projects, Coal fired generation, or Reciprocating engines (RICE).
Understanding of instrumentation and controls engineering and technology, applying systems, principles, techniques, and procedures to project design.
Experience with DCS, TCS, and/or PLCs programming.
Experience reading and creating logic diagrams and control narratives.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for producing technical plans, drawings, and models.
Proficiency with MS Office applications.
Excellent technical communication and writing skills.
Valued but Not Required Skills And Experience
Experience in technical due diligence and owner’s engineering design reviews of conventional power projects.
General understanding of power station operations and performance reviews.
General understanding of process design at electric power generation facilities.
Economic, cost analysis, and contract development experience.
Experience performing field work (control system upgrades, commissioning, start‑up).
PE license or ability to earn PE license.

Compensation Range $116,620.00 - $179,890.00
