Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a
Processing Supervisor
in Torrance, California. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. HFS holds the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems and is the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. The role involves managing high‑tech, multi‑material fastening systems used on aircraft, aerospace engines, gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, wind turbines, and construction equipment. Essential Functions
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in operating a variety of machines to manufacture parts or products. Supervises work teams and individuals in manufacturing responsibilities to meet customer quality and on‑time delivery needs. Ensures compliance with company policies in manufacturing. Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and creates processing schedules that meet internal and external needs. Schedules and approves overtime and vacations. Manages teams by establishing monthly and quarterly performance goals. Assists in setting and achieving productivity and quality targets for the various teams. Coaches manufacturing personnel in continuous improvement efforts. Interfaces with other departments to ensure customer deadlines are met. Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications. Directs workers to adjust machines and equipment to repair products that fail to meet standards. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality. Suggests changes in working conditions or equipment use to increase shop efficiency. Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems. Maintains time and production records. Develops capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times. Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials. Reviews daily production reports and forms. Supports the Manufacturing Manager in meeting department goals and objectives. Basic Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in manufacturing. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Position involves access to export‑controlled items and requires lawful access. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in plating, heat treat, chemical, or metallurgical processes. Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering. Supervisory experience in manufacturing. Experience manufacturing precision machined metal components. Experience in a machine shop. Experience with TPS/Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing principles and programs. Experience in the aerospace industry. Additional Requirements
Must be able to work on site in Torrance, California. Remote work is not considered. Must be able to work 2nd shift, from 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM. Benefits & Salary
