Lead Software Engineer – Retirement Strategies Technology team at

JSR Tech Consulting . Hybrid work in Newark, NJ with a major financial client. Responsibilities

Partner with product owners, designers, tech leads, and delivery professionals to deliver quality platforms and products with speed. Code, test and debug new and existing applications to implement capabilities that solve sophisticated business problems. Build applications ensuring that the code follows the latest coding practices and industry standards, using modern design patterns and architectural principles; remove technical impediments. Collaborate with product owners to understand needs and define feature stories; work with tech leads to define technical design and help other team members understand the system end-to-end. Write unit, integration tests and functional automation; research problems discovered by quality assurance or product support, develop solutions to address the problems. Bring a strong understanding of relevant and emerging technologies, provide input and coach team members, embed learning and innovation in the day-to-day. Work on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables. Qualifications

Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience. Ability to coach others with minimal guidance and effectively leverage diverse ideas, experiences, thoughts and perspectives to the benefit of the organization. Experience with agile development methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD). Knowledge of business concepts, tools and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business. Ability to learn new skills and knowledge on an ongoing basis through self-initiative and tackling challenges. Excellent problem solving, communication and collaboration skills. Advanced Experience & Expertise

Programming Languages: Python, Java, JavaScript, C#; object‑oriented programming, design patterns and methodology; Java services using Spring, Maven, Microservices, multi‑threading, concurrency and parallel processing. Frameworks: React, Springboot, Node.js, Flask, Django. Data Store: NoSQL or Relational Data structures. Data Streaming: SQS, Kinesis. API Development & Management: Rest, JSON, SOAP, XML, JDBC, MySQL; Kong, Apigee. Testing: Unit, integration, functional and non‑functional testing concepts and tooling; automated testing. Security: Secure coding, web application security, DevSecOps; authentication, authorization, encryption, JWT, SSL, SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0. DevOps: GitHub, Bitbucket, Subversion; Jenkins; monitoring and logging techniques. AWS Core Services across compute, storage, database, IAM and analytics. Preferred Qualifications

Strong experience with Domain Driven Development (DDD). AWS cloud native solution development. Architecture patterns, design and critical thinking. Financial/Insurance industry experience is a must, not a plus. People leadership experience is a plus. Experience with agentic frameworks and AI‑driven development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot). Compensation

Payrate: $65 - $75 per hour.
