Position Description Reporting to the General Manager, Data Center Operations, the Global Director, Materials Planning & Logistics will architect the Global Materials Planning Strategy for Data Center in Climate Solutions at Modine. The main objective is to drive performance and profitability in the Global Data Center group by fully developing and building out the strategy, team, and guiding processes/principles for materials management across the BU.
Strategic Objective – Business Partnerships Work with executive staff and VP/GM’s to establish an end‑to‑end strategy for long‑term planning of business performance and operational execution, ensuring customer delivery and plant operational performance.
Tactical Objective – Deployment/Implementation Collaborate with VP/GM’s, factories, sales, applications engineering, and finance to build, deploy, and drive a digital transformation of the Data Center Materials Management process, including a global SIOP process, planner excellence dashboards, and AI‑driven planning processes to standardize and simplify planning.
Key Responsibilities
Build out the process for hiring, developing and certifying a world‑class materials planning, demand planning, and SIOP team to support the execution of the long‑term Data Center strategy.
Create the roadmap and work with IT on the Supply Chain digital transformation.
Develop the Supply Planning team that will drive optimized inventory and material flows to enable plant performance.
Integrate with the CI Teams to drive material flow excellence at the factories.
Planning Excellence Responsible for creating a structured planning, training, and organizational development process to enhance the skills and abilities of factory performance.
Inventory Strategy Create an end‑to‑end inventory management strategy (Raw/WIP/FG) and network optimization process that uses customer demand data as the basis of the analysis utilizing data and industry standard PFEP processes.
SIOP Leadership
Team creation and development.
Training materials / development process / deployment actions.
Meeting structure and content.
Standardization and integration.
Centralized Planning
Develop the strategy and deploy a small centralized organization to relieve some planning responsibilities from factories with overlapping suppliers.
SFL – supply fulfillment Leader structure to enhance and drive accountability and agility in the supply chain.
Multi‑site supplied.
Long lead time – International.
Historical Poor Performance.
Capacity Constraint suppliers.
Operations Master Data Management Standards Collaborate with the BU sourcing, IT, etc. to dissect SAP and determine critical master data fields and keep those up to date and clean for improved planning performance.
Short‑Term – Supply & Demand Synchronization Build out systems and processes for all Data Center sites to ensure alignment between supplier output and plant production schedules while collaborating with planning teams to ensure suppliers have accurate forecasts and capacity plans.
Required Education & Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Process Management, Engineering, or Operations.
10+ years' experience leading Materials Planning/Demand Planning/SIOP in a manufacturing environment.
5+ years of direct leadership experience in both hourly and salaried workforces.
Demonstrated application and experience in multiple disciplines in the following categories:
Materials Planning / PFEP
Production Control
Tactical Purchasing
Inventory Control
Demand Planning
Master Data Management
Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Comfort with extensive presentation and information data management skills.
The ability to draw on previous experience to teach and mentor teams across the globe.
Dynamic thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
Certifications a plus: APICS / CPIM or other industry standard Materials process certifications.
Travel Up to 50% of the time, including international/intercontinental travel. Work from home if not based at one of the plant locations in Air Cooled Applications.
