Description
Under the supervision of an anesthesiologist, perform safe anesthesia care, including pre-operative assessment, writing appropriate pre-op orders as per approved procedures, administering various anesthetics and techniques, monitoring patients intra-operatively, ensuring safe intra-op course and emergence, and assisting in post-operative care. Shifts may be 8, 10, or 12 hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Work will be assigned across various ORs. Salary range: $145.48/hour Qualifications
Required: Knowledge of current nursing, anesthesia, and critical care techniques as demonstrated by the following:
- Valid California RN and CRNA licenses - Graduation from an accredited Master's or DNP program in Nurse Anesthesia - Current certification/re-certification by the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists - BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA or ARC
Required: Ability to perform comprehensive pre, intra-operative, and post-operative assessments and develop safe anesthesia care plans.
Required: Skills in pre-operative assessment of surgical and non-surgical patients, including:
a. Identifying pre-existing conditions affecting anesthesia care and documenting medical history, physical exams, labs, ECG, and chest X-ray b. Understanding drug interactions with anesthesia plans across all ages c. Recognizing physical exam abnormalities that may impact anesthesia management d. Knowing indications for delaying elective surgery and for pre-op specialty consultations
Required: Ability to explain anesthetic techniques, alternatives, risks, and obtain informed consent.
Required: Skill in documenting anesthesia records comprehensively for pre, intra, and post-operative events.
Required: Proficiency in airway management and interpreting physiological monitoring data (ECG, BP, vital signs, PCWP, SVR), and adjusting interventions accordingly.
Required: Ability to insert venous and arterial lines safely under medical direction.
Required: Knowledge of pharmacology, including drug dosages, side effects, and contraindications used in anesthesia at UCLA.
Required: Skills in performing MAC, regional, and general anesthesia techniques employed at UCLA for all ages. Ability to recognize return of consciousness and reflexes indicating safe emergence, and to transport patients to recovery with proper reporting.
Required: Knowledge of current clinical, educational, and research techniques, demonstrated through experience, academic credentials, and licensure.
