Eaton’s Electrical Engineering & Services division is currently seeking a Senior Power System Controls Engineer. This hybrid role requires approximately 25% travel throughout the West region.
Annual salary range: $80,250 - $117,700. Salary is a general guideline and may vary based on skills, experience, and market factors.
What You’ll Do Our Power Systems Controls (PSC) group is a full-service integrator that provides complete power systems automation solutions. Our team of engineers and technicians ensures single-point responsibility and seamless integration across all major manufacturers of HMIs, PLCs, protective relays, and components.
As a Senior Power Systems Controls Engineer, You Will
Create, modify, test, and deploy software for PLCs and HMIs for power transfer applications such as Main‑Tie‑Main, Main‑Gen, Main‑Tie‑Main‑Gen, and paralleling switchgear.
Follow customer specifications and internal specifications for project implementation.
Select components and create bills of materials.
Provide sketches, mark‑ups, and direction to Electrical Designers for project drawings.
Prepare customer submittals, Sequence of Operations (SOO), and test procedures.
Assist with factory testing and field start‑ups as required.
Troubleshoot systems that are not functioning properly.
Write and deploy complex power and control schemes, including load shedding/peak shaving schemes that utilize distributed energy resources, microgrid operations, breaker control schemes, and SCADA system development.
Ensure projects have proper controls, metering, and monitoring, such as power meters, automation equipment (PLC/HMI), protective relays, load sharing, and synchronization.
Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of 3 years of power systems controls experience, OR a high school diploma or higher with a minimum of 5 years of power systems controls experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license.
No relocation is offered. Only candidates within a 50‑mile radius of Chandler, AZ; City of Industry, CA; Pleasanton, CA; Roseville, CA; Littleton, CO; Las Vegas, NV; Wilsonville, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; Kennewick, WA; or Tukwila, WA will be considered. Active‑Duty Military Service members are exempt from the geographic limitation.
Preferred Qualifications
PE License.
Knowledge of SCADA systems and associated protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC‑61850).
