Surgical Care Unit is a 31-bed surgical/trauma unit, with cardio/respiratory monitoring capability for each bed. The unit specializes in the delivery of family centered nursing care for patients with surgical conditions including any orthopedic conditions from infancy through adolescence. Significant subgroups of patients include but are not limited: Pediatric General Surgery Ophthalmology Orthopedic trauma Spinal fusion Bariatric Surgery All nursing practice is based on the legal scope of practice, national and specialty nursing standards, CNMC Policies and Procedures, and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. The Professional Model of Care requires registered professional nurses to be responsible and accountable for their own practice.
