Key Responsibilities
Design and Architect Platform Services: Lead the technical design and implementation of core platform services and automation frameworks, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC) modules, CI/CD pipelines, and self‑service tooling that enables engineering teams to deploy with confidence and speed.
Drive Operational Excellence: Build and operationalize comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions across the organization. Establish SLOs/SLIs and implement systems to ensure platform reliability, performance, and availability at scale.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Serve as the hands‑on technical leader and subject‑matter expert, mentoring engineers across multiple teams on best practices for building scalable, resilient, cloud‑native systems. Define and enforce architectural standards, coding practices, and operational excellence principles.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with data engineering, SRE, security, and software teams to support and scale products.
Build for Scale & Reliability: Architect and implement platform components that handle significant technical and organizational scale, supporting high‑throughput systems with minimal latency and maximum reliability. Drive initiatives toward event‑based architectures and distributed systems patterns.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve developer productivity, reduce operational toil, and increase system reliability. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, bringing forward innovative solutions that advance our platform capabilities.
Required Qualifications \ 8+ years of professional experience in data engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or DevOps roles, with a proven track record operating at the Staff or Principal IC level.
Extensive experience building and operating large‑scale, distributed systems in production environments.
Deep expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly large‑scale usage of Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or another IaC framework.
Expert‑level knowledge of container orchestration technologies (Kubernetes, Docker) and cloud‑native application deployment patterns.
Strong experience with CI/CD practices and tooling (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD) and experience building self‑service pipelines for engineering teams.
Proficiency in system programming languages (Python, Go, or similar) used for building internal tooling, automation APIs, and platform services.
Proven experience designing and maintaining production observability systems (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Datadog, or similar).
Experience building scalable services on top of public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) with extensive use of managed services, databases (RDBMS, NoSQL, key‑value stores), and distributed systems.
Strong understanding of networking, security, and systems architecture in cloud environments.
Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders and write clear architectural decision records (ADRs).
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with AI/ML platforms, frameworks, and APIs, including deploying and scaling large models.
Hands‑on experience with GitOps workflows and tools (Flux, ArgoCD).
Background in event‑driven architectures and streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis, Pulsar).
Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd, Consul).
Familiarity with security scanning tools for container images, Infrastructure as Code, and runtime security.
Knowledge of FinOps practices and cloud cost optimization strategies.
Experience building developer platforms or internal platform‑as‑a‑service (PaaS) offerings.
Contributions to open‑source projects, particularly in the infrastructure, Kubernetes, or platform engineering space.
Experience working in fast‑paced, high‑growth environments with rapidly changing requirements.
