About the Team / Role
The Director, Workplace will shape the employee experience and optimize Checkr’s physical footprint by overseeing facilities, events, and the real‑estate strategy. Reporting directly to the SVP, Finance, this leader will ensure our offices operate seamlessly, foster connection and engagement through innovative events, and develop a forward‑looking real‑estate strategy aligned with business priorities and growth plans. The role requires a strategic thinker who balances operational excellence with long‑term planning, while building strong cross‑functional partnerships to deliver an exceptional and cost‑effective workplace experience.
What You’ll Do
Design and build a world‑class workplace employee experience for Checkr employees.
Take charge of Checkr’s real‑estate strategy, handling both the portfolio’s expansion and its maintenance.
Lead the design and implementation of Checkr’s hybrid work model, ensuring a balance between remote and office‑based work settings.
Drive productivity, engagement, connection, and innovation within our team, leveraging both physical and digital space.
Design and execute internal Checkr events, acting as a link to external events when necessary.
Implement and leverage AI‑driven tools to optimize operations, space utilization, and measure efficiency.
Deliver exceptional workplace services that reconcile cost, business needs, and employee expectations to build a dynamic and adaptable workplace.
Utilize relevant metrics to measure the Workplace team’s success, including financial analysis and key performance indicators.
Stay ahead of future work trends and adapt Checkr’s model based on expert insights and data, both internal and external.
Oversee daily facilities operations such as janitorial duties, HVAC maintenance, food service, and general maintenance across all Checkr locations.
Administer a worldwide operational budget and execute Checkr’s long‑term strategy and real‑estate plans.
Nurture and grow the global workplace team, fostering the skills and behaviors necessary to achieve strategic goals.
Supervise office and event managers and their respective property‑management teams, ensuring efficient operations across all sites.
Handle special projects as needed, demonstrating capability in executing projects from initiation through to completion.
What You Bring
10+ years of experience in workplace operations, including 6+ years in a direct people‑management role.
Exceptional ability to collaborate effectively with senior executives in a rapid‑paced and high‑growth setting.
Attention to detail and proficiency in managing multiple tasks and time management.
Initiative in identifying improvement opportunities for processes and policies related to the future of work.
Demonstrated data‑driven approach with an analytical mindset in problem solving.
Extensive experience in managing and strategizing for a sizable real‑estate portfolio.
Strong expertise in fostering culture and understanding the elements that boost engagement in a hybrid workplace.
Experience leveraging AI and digital workplace technologies to optimize operations and employee experience.
Event‑management experience required.
IFMA CFM credential preferred, but not required.
Stellar verbal and written skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate with vendors and executives.
Strong knowledge of facilities operations and managing trades.
Familiarity with Zoom, Verkada, Envoy, and GSuite highly desirable.
Willingness to travel as required for events or workspace changes.

Pay Transparency Disclosure Checkr has disclosed salary ranges for all roles. The target range for this position in San Francisco, CA is $221,000—$260,000 USD. This range can vary by location, and remote positions may have a different range. Additional compensation such as on‑target earnings may apply.
Our hub locations are Denver, CO; San Francisco, CA; and Santiago, Chile. Individuals are expected to work from the office 2 to 3 days a week, increasing to 3 days per week for hub‑based employees starting January 2026. In‑office perks include lunch four times a week, a commuter stipend, and an abundance of snacks and beverages.
