This position is responsible for coordinating the work of assigned technical committees by acting as the SAE representative at appropriate committee meetings; facilitating committee work before, during and after meetings; planning meeting facilities; working directly with suppliers; ensuring adherence to legal requirements, policies and procedures; conducting on-site registration; and ensuring the proactive production of technical standards that are relevant to the industry and which meet the goals of SAE.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Working closely with technical committee leadership to advance the committees' objectives, using metrics and data to assess committee health and drive improvements
Collaborating with committee members and colleagues, facilitate the efficient development, balloting and publication of consensus standards
Plan and staff committee meetings in a variety of locations, managing budgets and associated business processes
Act as focal point for enquiries and communications, ensure adherence to policies and procedures through training
Collaborate with colleagues to promote the work of SAE technical committees
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in Business Administration or related field with 3 years experience in business, meeting planning, or an administrative or customer service support field area, or equivalent, required.
Or will accept an Associates degree with 5 years experience.
Experience working in or with the aerospace and/or ground vehicle industry, desired.
Non-profit association experience and industry standards development process, desired.
Experience in managing people (i.e., supervision, volunteerism), preferred.
Excellent oral and written communications skills, required
Strong presentation and meeting facilitation skills, required
Ability to develop and implement meeting plans, required
Excellent organizational, planning and negotiation skills, required
Ability to effectively utilize computer programs and web applications, required
Strong interpersonal and customer relation skills, required
Excellent people management and motivational skills
Ability to work with a variety of individuals and coordinate their needs while maintaining the rules and integrity of the organization
Ability to travel 15% of the time
WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to travel 10% of the time.
Ability to work for long periods at a computer/desk.
Standard office environment.
