What You’ll Lead Drive an outstanding customer experience by leading the front‑end team at Fred Meyer. You’ll supervise all front‑end functions, uphold a safe and clean environment, and champion the Customer 1st strategy while embodying our core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities

Lead the front‑end team—cashiers, baggers, service booth clerks, and fuel clerks—to deliver excellent service and meet sales goals.

Conduct daily huddles to review service standards results, and safety procedures.

Manage breaks, lunches, and shift schedules for all front‑end associates.

Oversee cash control activities, including cash loans, pick‑ups, and secure safe counts.

Coach associates on proper checking techniques, que‑vision, self‑checkout lead behaviors, and bagging practices.

Apply shrink‑prevention procedures—checking basket bottom, scanning all items, using gold slips – to limit losses.

Reinforce safety programs by identifying unsafe conditions, reporting incidents, and maintaining a safe environment.

Maintain store cleanliness and uphold store layout and merchandising standards.

Perform preventive maintenance inspections and report equipment repairs.

Follow all local, state, federal, and company guidelines and regulations.

Adhere to essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Qualifications

Successfully completed checker, U‑scan, service booth, and bagger training.

Effective communication skills.

Basic math knowledge: counting, addition, and subtraction.

Ability to handle stressful situations.

Meet the minimum physical demands of the position.

21 or older.

Current alcohol sellers permit once employed.

Desired Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Cashier, retail, or management experience.

Second language: speaking, reading, and/or writing.

Communicate company, department, and job‑specific information to associates.

Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated.

Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.

Understand inventory/stocking and Computer‑Assisted Ordering.

Observe scheduled shift operating hours.

Lead front‑end team by supporting service expectations such as que‑vision, money services, and self‑checkout goals.

Ensure that customers’ needs are addressed quickly and professionally.

Perform cash loans and pick‑ups from all store registers using the VeriBalance system.

Manage and coach front‑end associates on all expectations, including proper bagging and self‑checkout behaviors.

Reinforce safety programs and report any unsafe conditions.

Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs.

Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report all safety risks.

Oversee and manage the efficient operations of all front‑end functions and activities.

Adhere to all local, state, federal laws, and company guidelines.
