Job Description

Robotics Mid-level Engineer who executes the design, development and delivery of automation solutions. Must be able to workautonomously under the general guidance of the Lead Engineer to complete project tasks of moderate scope andcomplexity. Continues to support broad engineering activities but with a growing focus on developing expertise inspecialized areas. May provide guidance and assistance to entry-level Engineers.Responsibilities and Duties:

Execute the design, development, and technical support of automation solutions adhering to industry standards.

Execute the installation, commissioning, and qualification, and support of automation solutions.

Identify, troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to automation solutions.

Identify and address risks.

Work in a GXP environment where detailed documentation of processes, configurations, and system changes may berequired.

Develop and maintain project files, including but not limited to Bill of Materials (BOM), design specifications,engineering drawings.

Create and interpret engineering drawings and specifications in order to build or program systems in accordance toprovided system's requirements.

Provide guidance to other engineers with best practices and standards in mind.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in relevant Engineering discipline.

Certifications in relevant automation platforms preferred.

Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Required Skills :

A strong understanding of engineering principles and tools in at least three of the following areas:

Mechanical design and build

Electrical design and build

Robotics design and programming

Control systems and programming

Data systems design and implementation

Machine Vision design and implementation

Machine assembly and installation

Software Development and integration

Validation process design and execution

Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information effectively

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Strong ability to independently identify and solve moderately complex issues

Strong ability to to work collaboratively in a team environment

Strong flexibility in responding to changing project requirements

Strong ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks

Strong ability to maintain accuracy in work

Strong level of risk management and mitigation strategies

Strong ability to independently execute tasks

Software Platform Preference(s):

A Typical Day May Consist of

Selecting the correct robotic components (Robot Arms, Robot Controllers, End-Effectors, etc.) for safety, theenvironment, and system requirements

Selecting the correct type and configuration (Ceiling Mounted SCARA, 6-Axis Collaborative, etc.) of robot to meet thesystem requirements

Performing calculations and simulation on components for load capacity, cycle time, and reach

Selecting the correct sensors and actuators for robotic applications, ensuring they meet safety, environmental, andsystem requirements

Maintaining a Bill of Materials (BoM) for robotic components that need to be purchased

Designing the layout of robotic systems in Fusion 360 Verifying via simulation in RoboDK the expect cycle time, reach, collisions, and order of cycle operations

Program the robot (in what ever specific environment is required) to perform its cycle and interface with the controlsystem

Teaching waypoints to the robot such that the robotics system correctly integrates to the full system and assembly

Specifying the correct communication protocols and wiring based on industry and project requirements

Developing test plans against the robotic design to ensure the safety and performance of the robotic system andcomponents

Ensuring designs meet industry and regulatory standards

Working alongside other engineering disciplines (electrical, mechanical, controls, vision, etc.) to ensure that allcomponents will integrate and operate together as expected

Supporting the integration of Machine Vision Solutions specifications, code, test procedures, and associateddocumentation deliverables

Updating and maintaining the robot program and documents for the full machine lifecycle"
