PROJECT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER, ENERGY AND DECARBONIZATION

THE POSITION
Our client seeks an Energy and Decarbonization Project Development Engineer to deliver climate neutrality solutions to their clients.
The Project Development Engineer will identify and lead concept-level design of energy efficiency and decarbonization projects for clients' buildings and campuses, working closely with the Vice President of Engineering.
The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, capable of working independently with minimal guidance, and a creative thinker who can envision low-carbon solutions from existing systems.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES Act as the lead energy engineer and project developer for various projects Conduct field investigations of existing building energy systems Gather and document key building energy performance data, including utility data and mechanical/electrical drawings Perform baseline analysis and benchmarking of energy use and carbon emissions at building or campus level Identify opportunities for energy- or carbon-reducing capital projects, such as HVAC upgrades Prepare scope of work outlines for proposed project concepts Collaborate with owners to identify challenges, needs, and solutions for energy and carbon reduction Prepare concept-level drawings, sketches, reports, and presentations for communication with stakeholders Coordinate with engineering consultants for design and analysis Develop cost estimates for efficiency improvements in collaboration with suppliers and contractors Support final development of construction documents and provide construction phase support Support client-focused planning projects, including climate action and sustainability planning Review energy data, utility bills, and prior studies Analyze baseline energy use and carbon emissions at various levels Review existing energy audits and plans, providing recommendations for energy reduction and decarbonization strategies
OTHER DUTIES Maintain knowledge of latest HVAC and building energy technologies Build contacts with equipment suppliers and sales reps Participate in professional organizations Pursue relevant professional certifications
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND CHARACTERISTICS BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field At least five years' experience in energy efficiency and/or HVAC/MEP engineering EIT or CEM certification is a plus Ability to work independently and in teams Effective project and time management skills Attention to detail and organizational skills Physical ability to perform field surveys, including walking and ladder climbing Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel Field project management experience is a plus
