Big Rapids Hospital
is seeking a full-time
Hospitalist
to join their team of ten providers (5 physicians and 5 advanced practice providers) providing exceptional care for hospitalized individuals and families in Mecosta County. Located just over 51 miles from Grand Rapids, Big Rapids sits along the Muskegon River and is home to Ferris State University.
Big Rapids Hospitalists work days with a staffing model of two physicians and one APP caring for an average census of 26, including up to 4 ICU beds. Nights are covered virtually by a nocturnist and on-site APP. Some procedures and vent management are required; a tela-ICU physician is available for consults via advanced audio/visual equipment.
Essential Functions
Assess and monitor the medical needs of patients and their families. Provide high-quality, cost-effective medical services, ensuring continuous coverage of caseload. Contribute to policy and procedure development related to medical practice and patient care quality. Oversee Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners providing delegated services. Evaluate educational needs of patients, families, and staff; develop or delegate appropriate teaching strategies. Document in accordance with regulatory standards. Communicate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure continuity and coordinated care, acting as a patient/family advocate. Participate in process improvement activities, including clinical pathways and quality initiatives. Qualifications License: Michigan MD/DO BE/BC in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Residency with strong inpatient experience Certification: BLS and ACLS About Big Rapids Hospital A 49-bed acute care facility with Level IV trauma designation and a TJC Comprehensive Stroke Center, offering inpatient medical, surgical, obstetrical, and critical care services, along with outpatient diagnostics, cardiopulmonary, and rehabilitation services. The hospital also features a 24-hour emergency department with private treatment rooms and a diverse medical staff.
