We are seeking a Senior Project Manager with a strong background in solid waste services to support the continued growth of HDR’s Waste Program in the New England area.

This role involves close collaboration with HDR’s Resources and Waste leadership, as well as local teams, to support geographic and regional program development. The ideal candidate will bring senior-level expertise in managing a wide range of solid waste projects, including landfills, transfer stations, material recovery facilities (MRFs), waste-to-energy (WTE), organics processing (compost/AD), and solid waste planning. Responsibilities include managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets, providing facility planning and engineering support, and maintaining strong client relationships through project execution and business development. The role also involves identifying market trends, supporting proposal development, conducting pre-proposal site visits, and delivering client-centric presentations. Candidates should be experienced in feasibility studies, cost estimating, capital improvement planning, and operational monitoring across various solid waste facilities throughout North America. In the role of Solid Waste Senior Project Manager, you'll:

Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of multidiscipline projects or medium-sized projects with high technical complexity, typically involving a large project staff. Establish client relationships and participate in business development, marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings. Coordinate staffing and workload through project development to complete documents on schedule. Implement QA/QC procedures. Work on various municipal solid waste projects including landfills, compost facilities, transfer stations, MRFs, household hazardous waste facilities, waste-to-energy facilities, and organics facilities. Collaborate with staff engineers to prepare design deliverables such as strategic plans, engineering reports, construction drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates, and schedules, with support from HDR’s national practice leads. Participate in meetings with clients and regulatory agencies to resolve technical issues and ensure compliance. Serve as a consultant and supervisor for waste and construction management projects as needed. Work independently on technical tasks involving data analysis, result interpretation, and technical report preparation. Delegate and supervise junior engineers and staff involved in waste facility design. Train and mentor personnel according to strategic plans. Additional Responsibilities: Supervise project staff and mentor less experienced solid waste technical staff and project managers. Collaborate with Section Manager and waste client development leads to prioritize marketing targets. Develop and maintain relationships with strategic partners, including general contractors. Leverage HDR resources for cross-sector collaboration with targeted clients. Develop marketing strategies and proposals for solid waste clients. Work with local leadership and the New England Resources Business Group Manager to identify market opportunities and foster growth. Identify key talent and assist in recruitment and retention efforts. Preferred Qualifications

Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Experience with solid waste and recycling regulations in New England required. Experience with waste master planning, zero waste initiatives, and diversion programs is a plus. Zero waste certification or experience is preferred. Experience with organics management and facility design is a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Civil 3D. Preference given to local candidates. What We Believe & Our Commitment

Bachelor's degree in a related field 10 years of related experience At least 5 years of project management experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office, estimating, scheduling, and project management software Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills Active participation in our employee-owned culture is essential Additional Information
