MedStar Health is looking for a Radiation Therapist to join our team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center!

As a Radiation Therapist, you will administer radiation therapy treatments, perform simulation procedures, and assist in the planning of radiation therapy treatments. You will document all aspects of patient treatment in medical records and support the Chief Therapist and Technical Director in implementing new policies and procedures to meet departmental and organizational goals.

Primary Duties:

Record simulation, treatment delivery, and billing. Utilize the QA Checklist function. Schedule simulation and treatment procedures. Provide patients with initial appointments and treatment calendars. Resolve treatment schedule conflicts and ensure all schedules are resolved daily. Document missed appointments in the EMR. Maintain organized treatment/CT simulator rooms and notify the chief therapist of supplies needed. Report malfunctions to the physicist/engineer and document them.

Participate in meetings and community outreach. Send evaluations to supervisors. Ensure weekly chart review is completed. Perform dose verification and verify weekly SSDs. Acquire all necessary patient imaging and ensure chart accuracy and completeness.

Operate the CT simulator and related equipment. Perform quality assurance, emergency shutdowns, and follow operation manuals. Conduct HDR and Mold Room duties. Perform urethrograms, oral, and IV contrast procedures. Educate patients on procedures, fabricate immobilization devices, and verify consent forms. Complete documentation, photographs, billing, and associations.

Document symptoms or problems. Promote a patient-friendly environment and demonstrate concern for patient comfort. Treat patients and families with courtesy and respect. Notify physicians or nursing staff of cancellations and document reasons. Assist in training new staff and students, and complete all related forms and evaluations.

Operate linear accelerators. Demonstrate proficiency in setup and radiation administration. Perform quality assurance, emergency procedures, and follow safety guidelines. Provide patient education on skin care, side effects, and treatment expectations. Perform hand calculations and dose verifications.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited school of Radiation Therapy Technology.

Maryland Board of Physicians License 'O' as a Radiation Therapist, or ASRT - Radiation Therapist 'M' Licensed as a Radiation Therapist and Radiographer.

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification.

Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers with AED certification.

Must maintain Maryland CE Continuing Educational Requirements (24 CE Credits/2 years).

This position has a hiring range of $34.98 - $62.52.
