This role supports the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The individual will represent International SOS and provide services outlined below: International SOS seeks an experienced Psychiatrist to diagnose, treat, and prevent mental health disorders through therapy, medication management, and comprehensive patient care. The role involves collaborating with patients to develop tailored treatment plans addressing their psychological, emotional, and behavioral needs. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive psychiatric services for Veterans enrolled in the Atlanta VA Healthcare System Outpatient Clinics. Offer general psychiatric care to adult Veterans, including diagnostic evaluations, psychiatric consultation, medication management, and individual psychotherapy. Prescribe appropriate psychotropic medications, manage clinical care, and coordinate with other medical disciplines. Assess risk factors and develop disposition plans involving Veterans and their families. Treat common diagnoses such as anxiety, PTSD, depression, substance use disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, traumatic brain injury-related disorders, and mood disorders. Evaluate complex psychiatric cases involving catastrophic medical conditions, dementia, and high-risk diagnoses. Exercise clinical judgment in applying and developing treatment techniques. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive care. Establish working relationships with clinical providers within medical centers and outpatient clinics. Provide telephone and curbside consultations for appropriateness prior to scheduling. Supervise mid-level providers, psychiatric nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and staff as appropriate. Conduct telehealth assessments as needed. Participate in quality of care, peer review, and performance improvement activities. Qualifications Basic Requirements/Certifications: Current, active, unrestricted medical license in the U.S. Certification in BLS, ACLS, or equivalent. Education: MD or DO degree from an accredited U.S. or Canadian institution. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. DEA license. Physical Requirements: Work in a typical office environment. Sitting and standing for prolonged periods. Bending, stooping, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Other Qualifications: Fluent in English. U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident. VA Public Trust Clearance. Additional Information: Resume, License, Board Certification, and ACLS/BLS copies required for final submission.
