About the Position
We are seeking experienced Exploration Drillers and Heavy Equipment Operators to join our team. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in geotechnical and environmental drilling activities. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting drilled soil/rock samples, installing monitor wells, installing slope inclinometers, and performing other geotechnical-related work. This position is considered a safety-sensitive position, and additional rules and regulations may apply.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate a variety of drilling equipment and techniques, including core drilling, auger, air rotary, sonic, and other geotechnical drilling methods.
Operate and maintain drilling and heavy equipment such as drill rigs, excavators, and other heavy machinery.
Knowledge and ability to perform site investigations and assist with subsurface data collection for geotechnical analysis.
Ability to collect samples of soil/rock from various depths and formations.
Adhere to project plans, ensuring work is completed accurately and in compliance with safety standards.
Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Follow all safety protocols and regulations on job sites, including those specific to safety-sensitive positions.
Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and other team members to ensure project deadlines and objectives are met.
Maintain detailed logs of daily work activities, equipment uses, and safety compliance.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
Supervisory Requirements:
Will be responsible for giving directions and guidance to drill helpers.
Qualifications:
A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Driller operator license in Washington State (preferred).
Driller licenses in other states, such as Idaho, Oregon, Montana, are preferred but not required.
At least two years of drilling experience in geotechnical and/or environmental drilling activities.
Solid understanding of geotechnical sampling methods and soil/rock properties.
Ability to operate heavy equipment and/or drilling machinery in varying field conditions.
Knowledge of safety standards and practices, particularly in safety-sensitive environments.
Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to work in challenging environments, including harsh weather conditions and physically demanding tasks.
Valid driver’s license and ability to be insurable
Ability to pass a Medical Test with a 50 lb. lift test.
