Howard University Hospital seeks to hire a
Clinical Registered Nurse in Telemetry/Med Surg
who will embrace our rich and historic tradition of excellence. This position consists of three 12-hour day shifts from 7:30 am to 8:00 pm, including every other weekend. Differentials and premiums apply.
Salary Range:
$35.80 - $59.89
(actual offer rates are based upon the applicant's relevant job experience and the requirements of the position)
Collaborates with patient/family and healthcare team to determine health goals and interventions and to revise plans of care as needed.
Maintains awareness of the unit’s statistics regarding core measures, nursing quality indicators, customer satisfaction, and actively participates in improvement activities.
Provides nursing care consistent with standards, policies, procedures, ethics, standards, and legal requirements.
Serves as charge nurse on a rotational basis after completing a 6-month orientation, with manager approval.
Participates in performance improvement programs through ongoing assessment and measurement.
Establishes rapport with patients to identify care requirements and provides emotional, psychological, and spiritual support.
Promotes patient independence through education on condition, medications, and self-care skills.
Ensures quality of care by adhering to standards, measuring outcomes, and making adjustments as needed.
Adheres to infection control policies, medication procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
Maintains supplies inventory and uses equipment efficiently.
Demonstrates competency in clinical skills, infection control, medication administration, and communication.
Qualifications:
Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s preferred.
Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
Current RN license in the District of Columbia.
American Heart Association BLS certification.
Minimum of 12 months RN experience required.
