Overview MG2, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is seeking a driven Cost Estimator II to join our Client Programs Market on the Cost Management team in Seattle. In this role you will play a key part in delivering global and national building programs, supporting clients through every phase of design and construction. You will contribute to comparisons, material and labor investigations, pricing analyses, and other critical project tasks. Daily responsibilities include preparing estimates from conceptual through design development, performing quantity surveys, and providing value‑driven recommendations that help shape successful projects.
Responsibilities
Perform detailed takeoffs of materials and trades for all CSI divisions.
Prepare labor, material, and equipment pricing research and apply findings to estimates.
Provide conceptual, preliminary, schematic, and design development estimates for new construction, remodels, and small infrastructure‑type projects.
Deliver detailed breakdowns for all major CSI divisions.
Prepare detailed narratives for estimates to convey scope of work to clients.
Review estimates with senior staff for comments and quality assurance.
Support the team in project‑related tasks such as comparisons, material and labor investigations, and other pricing needs.
Provide impromptu spreadsheets and cost comparisons at the client’s request.
Update Cost Management’s historical database.
Perform bid reviews and change order reviews.
Meet with project managers, consultants, and clients as required to acquire necessary information for estimates, bids, and budgets.
Offer value engineering suggestions to the team during the estimation process.
Visit building sites for clients as required.
Attend client team management and project kickoff meetings as required.
Attend all Cost Management team meetings or functions as required.
Produce accurate and consistent work.
Adhere to assigned schedules.
Monitor time spent on all projects to ensure profitability and efficiency.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years construction estimating experience.
Experience in the commercial construction industry preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field.
Demonstrated understanding of architecture and construction.
