Sr Electronics Design Engineer
– Senior Electronics Design Engineer role at Leidos
The National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program at Leidos is seeking Senior Electronics Design Engineers to provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Eastern Service Area – Engineering Services Groups located in College Park, GA; Washington, DC; Burlington, MA; and Nashua, NH. The role focuses on modernizing national airspace connectivity via small tower voice switches, telecommunications infrastructure replacement, air‑to‑ground protocol converters, and NEXCOM radios.
Description Design‑centric position supporting modernization of Voice Switches for the Air Traffic Control System throughout the Eastern United States.
Job Duties Include
Evaluate existing site surveys to develop scope of work for site preparation requirements.
Conduct site surveys at remote sites for site preparation requirements.
Draft site preparation scope of work for facilities based on site survey reports and facility data.
Identify Contract Line‑Item Numbers (CLINs) required to complete site preparation.
Develop cost estimates for site preparation.
Review contractor site prep proposals for accuracy and compliance with scope of work.
Generate Operational Risk Management Pre‑Requisite Programs for site preparation and installation of voice‑switch equipment.
Work with local stakeholders to implement risk mitigations for implementation.
Coordinate and schedule site preparation activities with stakeholders and contractor personnel.
Oversee site prep and installation work performed by contractor.
Generate periodic status reports.
Update Corporate Work Plan (CWP) data.
Update facility drawings (red lines) for drafting.
Basic Qualifications
Electronics Engineering Degree (B.S.) with a minimum of 8 years’ experience.
Ability to travel > 50%.
Ability to obtain a Public Trust Suitability (US Citizen or Green Card holder residing in the US for the past 3 years).
Proficiency in MS Office Suites.
Design experience working with AutoCAD or similar tools.
Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA standards, and National Airspace System Equipment Tower.
Knowledge of OSHA and general construction and electrical safety standards.
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of National Air Space facilities such as ASR, ATCT, VOR, ARSR, RCAG.
Familiarity with NASET and National Airspace System Equipment Building (NASEB).
Knowledge of Corporate Work Plan (CWP) 4.1.12.
Pay Range $104,650.00 – $189,175.00 (general guideline only; compensation subject to additional factors).
