Job Summary
The Director of Assisted Living serves as a liaison with hospital personnel, physicians, community organizations, and other health‑related service agencies to provide quality care to our assisted living residents. The role is responsible for hiring, training, and managing a staff that delivers superior care while maintaining the physical and emotional health of residents in accordance with federal, state, and local standards.
Essential Job Duties
Conduct and coordinate resident assessment programs (20%) in accordance with regulations, including:
Ensuring an initial assessment is completed prior to move‑in and a comprehensive care plan is created upon move‑in.
Conducting routine re‑assessments and change‑of‑condition assessments as needed to guarantee optimal care.
Conducting interviews and observations of residents continually.
Alerting the Executive Director, Director of Connections for Living, family members, and others of any changes in the resident’s physical or emotional health and the department’s ability to meet those needs.
Recruit, interview, hire, manage, schedule, motivate, evaluate, and supervise department staff in accordance with policies and budgets (15%).
Daily review of timekeeping, meal breaks, and overtime.
Create and conduct orientation for new Team Members.
Ensure ongoing training and education for all Team Members, covering:
Medication delivery, safety and emergency procedures, documentation/record keeping, resident records, acceptable treatments, etc.
State‑required training for care staff.
Perform administrative duties accurately and timely, including evaluations, reports, studies, resident records, assessments, and care profiles (10%).
Coordinate departmental schedules to ensure adequate staffing and coverage during absences.
Maintain inventory of supplies necessary for resident care.
Coordinate prescription orders and pharmacy delivery of medications (5%), including:
Overseeing central storage, tracking, and delivery of medications.
Ensuring all medication carts and records are in order and compliant with guidelines.
Ensure overall safety and health of all assisted living residents (5%) by:
Monitoring governing requirements closely.
Executing physician orders properly.
Assist in community marketing efforts and act as a liaison for families and outside health service providers (5%).
Act as Manager on Duty when necessary.
Non‑Essential Job Duties
Perform other duties or special projects as assigned/requested by the Executive Director.
Work with MBK and outside resources to develop a supportive group for family members of residents.
Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents, and guests per established standards.
Understand and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations and company policies concerning the department.
Display tact and friendliness when dealing with residents, Team Members, and guests.
Promote teamwork and open communication in accordance with MBK principles.
Assist the Executive Director in completing an annual budget, including:
Ensuring financial goals are met monthly.
Managing labor and other expenses.
Minimize waste and misuse of supplies/equipment.
Supervisory / Management Responsibilities
Caregiver: 2 – 10 Team Members
Minimum Job Requirements
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Prior related work experience in a similar assisted living management role.
Prior management or supervisory experience.
Current First Aid Certification.
Background clearance and health screening with negative TB test (within 6 months).
Solid PC skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other office equipment.
Excellent communication skills (English).
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication).
Ability to make independent decisions and remain calm in stressful situations.
Professional demeanor when dealing with personnel, residents, families, and guests.
Preferred Job Requirements
Two (2) years of college in human services, health care, or a related field.
Completed nursing coursework for RN, LPN, or LVN certification.
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Human Services, or Health Care.
Physical Demands
Move intermittently throughout the work day and community.
Lift/carry, push, and pull up to 40+ pounds.
Assist in moving residents when necessary.
Annual Salary $70,000 – $75,000 per year.
