Senior Advisor, Immigration Enforcement Join UnidosUS’s Protect, Defend & Advance (PD&A) Campaign as a full‑time temporary exempt position (expected to run through December 31, 2026). The role supports policy and advocacy work around U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Immigration Customs and Enforcement practices, providing expertise, strategy development, and policy recommendations. The Senior Advisor will conduct analysis, engage stakeholders, provide testimony to Congress, serve as spokesperson, and attend in‑person Capitol Hill events and occasional travel.
Location & Salary Hybrid, Washington, DC. Policy requires onsite two days per week. Salary: $200,000–$220,000.
Essential Functions
Develop and publish research and advocacy material on enforcement policies, from detention to ICE agent recruitment.
Identify priority oversight areas, advise on tactics to spotlight issues, and track DHS appropriations.
Collaborate with Senior Advisor, Immigration Policy & Strategy to shape communications supporting litigation and campaign goals.
Build and maintain relationships with Congress, federal/state officials, coalition leaders, funders, stakeholders, and media partners.
Inform and influence DHS oversight activity by lawmakers.
Partner with community stakeholders for oversight tracking and monitoring.
Serve as lead policy expert, advocate, and spokesperson at high‑level coalition tables, conferences, and events across the U.S.
Support fundraising efforts for the Protect, Defend & Advance Campaign.
Keep major stakeholders, including Affiliates and the Board, informed about immigration efforts.
Required Qualifications
Advanced degree in policy, law, or related advocacy field.
Minimum 15 years of federal‑level advocacy experience.
Proven record of publishing policy analysis and communications.
Expert knowledge of DHS/ICE enforcement policies and practices.
Experience working with Congress and communicating in public settings.
Experience staffing senior leadership for congressional engagement.
Flexibility to accommodate congressional sessions and occasional travel (up to 10 %).
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the Latino community.
Preferred Qualifications
7 or more years of government experience.
Experience delivering expert testimony on relevant issues.
Experience working with Hispanic lawmakers.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
