Piper Companies is seeking a

Senior Full Stack Java Developer

to join a respected provider of health, science, and technology solutions serving both

government

and

commercial

sectors. This position is in Laurel, MD and supports a multiyear IT modernization and transformation initiative for the Defense Information Systems Agency ( DISA ). As part of an Agile DevSecOps team, you will design and deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing software solutions using

Java Spring Boot

and

React .

Qualifications

Develop and maintain full-stack applications leveraging

Java Spring Boot

for backend services and

React

for front-end interfaces.

Participate in the full Agile application development lifecycle, including microservice API design and implementation.

Work with relational databases (Postgres) and NoSQL databases (Redis).

Implement automated unit testing using tools such as

JUnit ,

Mockito , and

Cucumber .

Collaborate within Agile Scrum teams to complete user stories and deliver production-ready code with minimal supervision.

Support acceptance testing, load testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning activities.

Contribute to cross-functional teamwork and incremental feature development.

Adhere to development standards and best practices; participate in regular code reviews.

Communicate effectively with team members, management, and customers to explain functionality and resolve issues.

Interface with external teams and stakeholders to demonstrate completed functionality and provide technical guidance.

Citizenship and Location

Must be a

U.S. Citizen

in order to obtain a

Final Secret DoD clearance . *REQUIRED*

Must be based in the DC-Baltimore area with ability to travel to office or customer sites as needed.

Education

Master’s degree in a related discipline + 4 years of experience, OR

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline + 8 years of experience, OR

12–15 years of software development experience without a degree.

Experience

Full-stack development using

Java Spring Boot

and

React .

Microservice-based architecture.

Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).

3+ years of experience with

DevSecOps

and

CI/CD pipelines .

Preferred Skills

Docker and containerization.

Apache Camel.

Familiarity with DoD STIG compliance processes.

Compensation

Salary Range: $145,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year, based on experience and certifications
