Instructor - Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (GHN) at Texas Children's Hospital (TCH) is developing a team of close-knit Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) Physician Assistants at the Texas Medical Center campus. This team will be part of a dynamic and collaborative multidisciplinary medical team caring for hospitalized patients with various gastrointestinal and liver disorders. This position offers unique experience on our inpatient service lines for individuals pursuing careers in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition. It provides opportunities to build relationships with patients and families, and to participate in research lectures, pathology conferences, CME activities through GI grand rounds, and fellows' workshops. TCH's GHN division is ranked #5 nationally by US News and World Report, with faculty recognized as international clinical experts and researchers. As the largest children's hospital in the country, TCH serves as a major referral center for rare GI and liver disorders, fostering unparalleled pediatric GI and hepatology expertise. Currently, three inpatient service lines care for 20-35 patients daily with a range of gastrointestinal, liver, and nutritional disorders, including inflammatory bowel disease, short bowel syndrome, motility disorders, liver transplantation, and pancreatic and bile duct abnormalities. Nutritional support management, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures are also performed. The physician assistant/instructor will work alongside faculty, fellows, pharmacists, dieticians, social workers, and residents to care for pediatric patients in both acute and ICU settings. We seek organized, detail-oriented individuals who can coordinate excellent patient care across departments. Job Duties

Obtain detailed histories and perform physical examinations. Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures. Prescribe appropriate treatments. Maintain records and document patient progress. Ensure accuracy of medical records. Provide follow-up care as per protocols. Communicate with physicians, patients, and families regarding care. Collaborate with providers and staff to identify suitable patients for care management. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

· For Nurse Practitioner: Master's degree in Nursing and current Texas RN license, Texas APRN license, and required certification. · For Physician Assistant: Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies (bachelor's accepted if it meets terminal degree requirements), current Texas PA license, and required certification.
