Overview
The Waters Taunton Manufacturing Facility is seeking a Tech Support Manager to lead the technical aspects of chemical processes at the site. This key role involves overseeing troubleshooting, support, and enhancement of manufacturing processes, as well as collaborating with R&D to transfer new chromatographic products into the facility. The individual will manage a team of chemists in a laboratory environment supporting a large manufacturing operation.
Ideal candidates are highly motivated, adaptable, quick learners, and methodical thinkers capable of troubleshooting complex chemistry challenges in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects.
Responsibilities
Lead troubleshooting, support, scale-up, and improvement of manufacturing processes using advanced chemistry knowledge and statistical analysis.
Develop hypotheses, design experiments, analyze data, and guide the Tech Support team to successful outcomes.
Coordinate the transfer of new chromatographic products from R&D to manufacturing, working with engineering, production, QC, QA, and other teams.
Create procedures for manufacturing reagents, standards, and new products using sophisticated techniques.
Assist with implementing new equipment and improving existing machinery, collecting data to drive continuous improvements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Master’s or PhD in Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or related field, with proven application of chemical principles to solve complex problems.
Over 10 years of experience in industrial or laboratory settings.
Experience managing a team of scientists.
Strong understanding of theoretical chemistry, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
Familiarity with small-scale glassware reactions and techniques.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and record-keeping.
Knowledge of chemical and laboratory safety protocols.
Experience with analytical and purification techniques such as chromatography, distillation, recrystallization, etc.
Ability to analyze chromatograms, IR, NMR, and Mass Spectra data.
