Job Overview
Broughton Hospital is currently recruiting permanent full-time Psychiatrists for multiple positions. This 24‑hour in‑patient facility serves adolescent, adult, deaf, and geriatric patients. The Psychiatrist will provide inpatient psychiatric care and serve as team lead for multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care and treatment. Pay

Initial psychiatric assessments Establishing diagnoses and formulating treatment plans and recommendations Medication management including psychotropic drug reviews for the SPMI population Participating on or leading a multidisciplinary team that includes psychology, social work, pharmacy, nursing and other therapeutic disciplines Managing the day‑to‑day responsibilities of an inpatient unit to include documentation of progress, court papers and education of patients and families Consultation with outside medical staff as indicated Qualifications & Preferred Experience
Licensed to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina Graduation from an accredited medical school and completion of psychiatry residency (or anticipated completion before job commencement) Professional knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients, as credentialed by the Medical Staff Board certification in Psychiatry Professional experience leading and collaborating on an interdisciplinary team to provide integrated, comprehensive patient care Minimum education: Medical doctor or equivalent, with appropriate psychiatric training Sign-On Bonus
A sign‑on bonus of $20,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025‑2026 Budget Approval. Eligibility requires a newly hired permanent full‑time or permanent part‑time employee to work 30 to 40 hours per week. Employees who work less than 40 hours per week will receive a prorated rate. Eligibility is excluded for employees who have held a position in the North Carolina State government (including the judicial system or the UNC system) within the last 12 months, or who have previously received a sign‑on bonus from any State agency, or if DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees. Work Hours & On-Call
The normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; flexible schedules will be considered. On‑call coverage is required. Application Process
