Audit Partner (Alternative Investment) - Boston MA - National CPA Firm
Our team is working with a leading national CPA firm to hire an Audit Partner with a focus on Private Equity, Venture Capital, & Hedge Fund clients to their growing team. The Audit Partner will build and lead the Alternative Investment Audit practice in Boston as well as drive new business and build relationships.
This will be an in office leadership position within the organization. For Audit Directors looking for direct admit to partner, that will depend on experience within Business Development & track record of success. For Directors coming in the door with a one year track to Partner, the position will pay between $180K-230 base & up to 20% bonus. For Direct Partner candidates, depending on clients/relationships the compensation will start at $400K.
Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the engagement leader for audits of venture capital firms, hedge funds, and private equity firms.
  • Maintain strong, long-term client relationships through strategic insight, responsive communication, and deep industry expertise.
  • Oversee complex technical accounting and financial reporting matters specific to investment entities, including fair value measurements (ASC 820), consolidation, and carried interest structures.
  • Expand presence in the alternative investment space by identifying new opportunities and developing a strong referral network.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, participate in thought leadership initiatives, and support the development of proposals and client presentations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing assurance team, providing coaching, technical guidance, and performance evaluations.
  • Serve as a technical resource for complex issues in investment company audits and contribute to internal quality initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field; Masters preferred.
  • CPA license required and in good standing.
  • Minimum of 1215 years of public accounting experience with a focus on asset management clients, specifically venture capital, hedge funds, and private equity funds.
  • Demonstrated success in leading audits of investment entities under both U.S. GAAP and IFRS (preferred).
  • Experience working with SEC-registered advisers and knowledge of relevant compliance frameworks (e.g., Form ADV, custody rule, etc.) is a plus.
  • Strategic thinker with strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in technical research and application of accounting and auditing standards.
  • Strong business development acumen and ability to manage and grow a book of business.
